Faculty and Staff Services. The Daytona State Library offers a number of specialized services for teaching staff and staff including: library skills teaching for students and web research training for staff, research assignment design consultations, media and equipment bookings, course reserves, and professional research services.

We also encourage input from teaching staff and staff in various fields such as the development of collections and continuous quality improvement for library services. Library Skills Instructions and Web Research Training

The Daytona State Librarian offers a variety of Library Skills Instructions ranging from development classes to high-level Bachelor program programs. Workshops can be tailored to a specific project or theme. We also provide Web Research Training for staff and can prepare presentations to meet specific department needs. Most workshops take around 50 minutes and for large classes we will be happy to come to your classroom. Please order the workshop at least one week in advance by filling out our instruction request form. InfoGuide Development Request

Interested in making InfoGuide created for your class, event or topic? Fill in the InfoCuides DSC Development Request form. This InfoGuides can serve as an excellent starting point for students, staff, and teaching staff who are not sure where to start with their research. Many DSC departments have requested the development of new disciplines or course-specific guidelines to help their students find more quality resources for their academic assignments.

  • Tech Up InfoGuide - Need refresher on the technology commonly used in DSC? Try clicking a lot of tutorials on this guide. Created for students, staff, and teaching staff at Daytona State College, this guide offers video documentation and tutorials, which guide users through navigating DSC, Office 365, Prezi, and more! If you want immediate assistance, look for a workshop that is offered before the beginning of each semester.

Research Assignment Design Consultation

Let us help you design research assignments that utilize the maximum resources available to your students. The Daytona State Librarian is available for consultation by telephone or appointment. We can check resources, create specific help guides and list resources, and even provide specific instructions for your students. Media Ordering

Teaching staff and staff can request DVDs for use in their classrooms or they can store these materials in the library for their students to use. DVD handles can be searched using an online catalog. Search the online catalog of the DSC library to find library ownership. This catalog also indexes other media such as video streaming and audio material. To order ingredients, call 386,506,3055 to get help. (For Campus Deland Library, telephone 386,785.2017)

Reserve Courses and Textbooks

Faculties can place materials as reserves in the Daytona and DeLand Campus Libraries by reviewing the Backup page and filling out online forms. Reserve courses can be checked from the Circulation Desk. Backups can be used in the library and photocopied. The library does not carry an outstanding copy of the current textbook. Faculties are encouraged to place HIGH REQUEST textbooks on reserves for their courses, especially if they lack supply.

Research Services

Librarians in the State of Daytona are happy to help you with your research needs in various fields such as courses and curriculum development, classroom support materials, program accreditation preparation, and grant support research. We can also support you in your personal degree program and with your publishing project. Collection Development

The library relies heavily on the subject expertise of our faculty to keep our collections up-to-date and relevant to your students. We welcome any material recommendations to add to our collection, both books and media. It is also important to remove old and outdated material from our collections and we strongly encourage faculty to "weed" collection areas that are related to their disciplines. Continuous Quality Improvement

The Daytona State Library Service Department strongly believes in continuous quality improvement and welcomes any suggestions, recommendations or problems that will help us improve our services and resources. The Library Advisory Committee is a committee consisting of faculty representatives from each department who help us do that.
